Video & Film

Filming for television and my own films takes up the majority of my time these days.
Having worked with still images for so long the move into video and film gave a whole new direction for my work and in the environments I choose to work, a wealth of new challenges to be overcome. UK television and particularly the BBC provide the majority of my work but it was my own documentary project ‘Wookey Exposed’ which proved the pivotal point in this transition from stills photographer to video cameraman and filmmaker. I’d tried without success to get a foot through the BBC door for several years but following the Wookey films win at the Kendal International film festival the BBC came calling me. They initially just wanted me to help one of their regular cameramen to film caves for Planet Earth but this soon developed into planning and shooting several sequences for the series and the BBC door was finally open.

Alongside the mainstream television work I’ve continued to make my own film projects, my latest ‘To Save The Whale’ recently taking the top prize at the Edinburgh Documentary Film Festival.
